Take up ballroom dancing - fitness and fun! And here’s a great cha cha to start you off. Even if you can’t do it properly, just get up and dance!
For most of us, our physical wellbeing is in our hands. Choices we make in our lives
will, sooner or later, tell.
It’s the chance implicit in that which encourages us to gamble: “sooner or later”
could mean later. Could be a lot later. So why worry now? Might as well just carry
on doing what we’re doing. Sure, we accept that in the end the way we live our lives
is unsustainable, but we’ve plenty of time to sort that out. Let’s start tomorrow.
Or next week. Or at New Year. Or when we’re forty. Or fifty. Or when we retire.
Sometimes, we know we should do something, but can’t bring ourselves to make real
change, so opt for a quick fix: a fad diet, supplements, a gym membership that we’ll
rarely use, a new breakfast cereal, or some sporty clothing. Er.....
Okay, there’s bad news, and there’s good news. The bad news first: you want to be
well, and stay well? You have to start now. Right now. This minute. And you have
to change your whole life (Sorry, the sporty clothes just won’t do it for you.)
Whether you’re recovering from illness, looking after yourself, or just looking
for fitness, it’s going to be about changing the structure of your days and what
you do in them.
The good news, though, is that it isn’t nearly as hard as it seems. Do some research,
make some resolutions, set out a structure for your day and your week, and set yourself
a programme which changes one thing each week. If you can, get the support of family
and friends, and get them to join you. We promise you, soon you’ll notice a real
difference.
