We are quick to think about wellbeing in terms of physical health.  We want to eat our “five a day,” watch our weight, go to the gym.  We think about how much alcohol we drink, or how much caffeine, and if we’re smoking we know we should stop.

All of these things are, of course, vital for our wellbeing.  But worrying about our physical health alone can actually make things worse.  Where can we find the time to go to the gym?  How will we find the money to buy all the right food?  How can we drink less coffee when we need two cups before we can face the thought of going to work?  We’re stressing out over our physcial health, and neglecting our emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Not surprisingly, half of adults say that they are over stressed at some time in their lives, and one person in four in the UK will suffer from some form of mental illness in their lifetime.

We can help our whole wellbeing by remembering to take care of our emotional wellbeing.  So if you haven’t thought much about that, it’s time to start.  Follow our links, or take a look at our page on stress, anxiety and relaxation, and our pages on music, to give you some ideas.

Sometimes, our emotional wellbeing is affected by the things life throws at us, or we find ourselves stuck or directionless.  It’s at those times we are most in need of support to restore our hope, and help us face the future.  If that’s how you feel, perhaps you’d be interested in our page on individual counselling and therapy.
